NL and Gulf Quota History and 2026 Cuts

Gulf quota peaked at 43,475 tonnes in 2017 and fell to 16,268 tonnes in 2026, a 63% decline. NL quota moved in the opposite direction, rising from 34,530 tonnes to 61,013 tonnes over the same period. The Gulf's share of combined Gulf+NL quota dropped from 56% in 2017 to 21% in 2026. The buyers who need Gulf-origin crab now compete for a fifth of the combined quota, down from more than half a decade ago.
