The China channel was disrupted by the 25% tariff imposed in March 2025. Chinese imports of Canadian sections collapsed from 6.5M lbs in 2024 to 2.9M lbs in 2025, while Vietnam grew from 3.7M to 4.5M lbs as a partial substitute. The Carney-Xi resolution effective March 1, 2026 restores the China channel heading into the new season — the key new element for 2026 that was not present in 2025.
